The General Assembly of the International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD), which brings together more than 30 national coalitions, met in Paris on 5 June to elect the 6 members of its Board of Directors for 2023-2025.
The following were elected
Guillaume Prieur, representing the French Coalition for Cultural Diversity, was elected Chairman of the Board.
Mahamadou Adamou, President of the Niger Coalition for Cultural Diversity (CNDC) and Vice-President of the African Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity, was elected Vice-President for the Africa region.
Alejandra Diaz, representative of the Paraguayan Coalition for Cultural Diversity, was elected Vice-President for the Latin America region.
Rowan Woods, representative of the Australian Coalition for Cultural Diversity, film and television director and academic, President of the Australian Directors Guild, was elected Vice-President for the Asia-Pacific region.
Manassé Nguinambaye Ndoua, President of the Chadian Coalition for Cultural Diversity, was elected Treasurer.
Holly Aylett, Director of the UK Coalition and Research Fellow at Birkbeck College London, was elected Secretary.
At the meeting, the IFCCD also reaffirmed its priorities for the period 2023-2026:
- protection of the cultural exception in trade agreements
- the diversity of cultural expressions online, with particular emphasis on enhancing discoverability and providing a framework for artificial intelligence
- the value and importance of the 2005 Convention and the participation of civil society
- the consolidation of cultural policies in favour of the status of the artist, including the mobility and diversity of artists
- promoting the role of culture in relation to sustainable development.
Finally, the Federation will continue to extend its action in order to strengthen its connections in all regions of the world and to support its members on every continent.
